Tuesday May 7

Tuesday, May 7 - ready to move on day.

Tomorrow we drive down to Stirling between Edinburgh and Glasgow. It is about a 3 hour drive, all on the wrong side of the road. Roundabouts are the most fun.

We spent most of the morning packing and researching areas of interest around Stirling. The apartment we are going to is 180 degree different from Inverness, on a working dairy farm out in the boonies vs. smack dab alongside the Ness River and a large town.

We got out of the apartment at 11:30 and headed for one more tourist location, Urquhart Castle, located on the shore of Loch Ness. The castle tour (in the rain, naturally) was semi anti-climactic but there were great views of the Loch. It had been finally mostly destroyed in 1746 at the turmoil of the Jacobite revolution as the Jacobites were retreating from the English.

We think we have one more castle left in us, Stirling Castle sometime next week. It has great writeups and is in the old town, an area of must see.

We also plan on taking a train into Edinburgh or Glasgow for a day of sight seeing as both are only an hour away.

As we returned to Inverness, we again ran into road maintenance.

Road maintenance

We walked about 500 yards to the Eden Court complex. We had dinner and attended a play, "The Verdict", a story set in Massachusetts dealing with a negligence trial against a Catholic Hospital. It was well acted, although a bit loud. We had excellent seats four rows back from the stage. By the way, programs cost 3 pounds vs. free handouts in the US.

Tomorrow is driving day to Stirling. Probably will stop in old town Stirling to visit or just get the lay of the land before going to our new digs.

TA.
